Type Pairing For Your Brand
By Rafid Khan
This is my Type Pairing For My Brand. Here's the process: So I used my brand title and used the same brand title brand font for each of the section. Then I used the slogan or a subtitle underneath the brand name, I would often change it's fonts each section. There are 4 sections which is Line Proportion, Line Quality, Historic Period and Complementary Mood.
In Line Proportion, I put my slogan fonts as Century Gothic. Line Proportion is defined as the looks at the overall form of the letter. Century Gothic fits as the Letter Proportion because of how it is generally considered as a tall and condensed. It is very sleek and modern with narrow spacing. Where it's feature gives a good fit for titles, subtitles or other display. Century Gothic doesn't have a x-height since it's lowercase letter isn't taller like their uppercase letter. Century Gothic is rounded in form where it has rounded edges and curves which creates a geometric appearances. The silhouette of Century Gothic is modern, clean and geometric. It has the appearance of a tall and narrow letterform. It is very slick with rounded edges and minimum extent of stroke width.
In Line Quality, I put my slogan fonts as Bookman Old Style (Bold). Line Quality is defined as observing specific lines in the letters. Bookman Old Style (Bold) fits as the Line Quality because although it doesn't have a distressed appearance, but it have elegant and readability. Where it is traditional and refined aesthetic. Bookman Old Style (Bold) is rounded off because it contribute to it's softness and readability. This creates an elegence and warmth values to the font itself.
In Historic Period, I put my slogan fonts as Vivaldi (Italic). Historic period is defined as the period in time that the type from. In which Vivaldi (Italic) is designed by Friedrich Peter in 1970, it was named after a composer Antonio Vivaldi. Where Vivaldi (Italic) creates flourishing and decorative qualities.
In Mood, I put my slogan fonts as Feltro. Mood is defined as to assign an adjective to the type. Feltro gives off this friendly mood, where it shows a decorative theme with a soft and innocent appearance. It's unusual edges shows off something fun that can be often viewed in advertisement through propaganda where the font convinces the consumer of something fun will come up.
