Yesterday, my Graphic design class and I went to the Society of Illustrator in Manhattan. Overall the trip was decent and not only I had a good time, but I also get to skip my classes for the whole day which is a good thing since I only get to go to trip like once in a while. The purpose of Society of Illustrator was a part of a reward I think for the class. But I believe that it more than a reward. I happen to learn and explore a lot of drawing that can motivate me to enhance my skills in Graphic design as well as my personal hobby which is drawing. I get to explore various styles of drawing/painting in order to get an understanding of how paintings and drawing have evolved overtime from the Renaissance to the Golden Age to the Modern Era (which is the present day). There were a good of good painting that interested me especially the modern age ones but there were also some that were just "alright" to me such as the old age style as I'm technically not accustomed or used to seeing one so often. The visit to the Society of Illustrator can motivate us Graphic Design students to view the aspects of Graphic Design differently based on observation of various drawings and the presentation of the artist in order to promote a more significant drawing/assignment as Graphic Design Students.

My favorite drawing from the Society of Illustrator is these two drawings which were the Dreamwork drawing and Donald Trump in the tsunami. Dreamwork was my favorite because of how it always reminds of how every time I watch a movie, I always see it in the beginning of the movie as a part of an introduction. I'm always in fond of how the boy sits in the crescent moon and using his fishing rod (I think) to find something. As a child, I always would wonder how he even get up there and why and what is he trying to fish with his fishing rod. Another drawing that I liked is Donald Trump in the tsunami. I'm pretty positive that it's Donald Trump himself as he have a blondish hair and a suit supposedly. In this picture I think it's proposing a political meaning behind it as Donald Trump seems to raise his fist and facing the Tsunami. I think the tsunami shows all the political conflicts, pressure, hatred and controversial that's about to wipe Trump away but he seems to be determined to face it. This picture isn't necessarily about Donald Trump but rather showing the responsibilities, mentality and the strength that a leader suppose to have when going against these issues and to always remain strong and never be shown weak.

Seeing these exhibition doesn't really made me get inspired to do these illustration but the artist presenting her work and making us create our own drawing did. From her teaching of drawing, I was encouraged to do better at drawing and hopefully get professional at it as this experience showed my weakness in drawing. It shows how my drawing skills tends to be lacking a little without using such reference and using my own brain as well as my creativity to create my own drawing. While seeing others drawing, I happened to be surprised but also motivated/encourage of how there's others in this class who have a better drawing skills. This inspired me to not only do illustration more but to also improve my sketching and timing in drawing in order to hopefully become professional  at drawing myself.
